Strange rumors have surfaced on the internet about the Huawei P60 smartphone. Particularly, about its platform.
There were reports on Weibo that the new Huawei flagship would receive SoC Kirin9100. This SoC will be manufactured using the 14-nm process technology. The Kirin 9000 is made according to 5nm standards. The latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 boasts a 4nm process tech.
The source claims that the new SoC will perform as well as solutions made with 5 nm process technology. It is unclear how this will be accomplished and how Huawei adapts the modern Cortex processor cores for the old process technology. However, it mentions using a three-dimensional layout.
Huawei cannot order single-chip systems that support 5G from TSMC and Samsung because it is subject to US sanctions. The company can still use Snapdragon platforms with 4G. Secondly, it is not possible to technically create a single-chip system using modern CPUs or GPUs, with power consumption and performance comparable to modern solutions. However, this is possible by using a process technology many generations older.
