Google raises requirements for Android Auto

Google has updated the requirements to connect smartphones to the Android Auto vehicle platform.

Android Auto is used by many car owners to keep their messages and media accessible while driving.

To connect to Android Auto wired, you will need a phone with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later, a high quality USB cable, an Android Auto compatible media player, and a phone that runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Google has updated its support page with the new requirements. To connect via USB cable, you will need an Android smartphone running Android version 8.0 Oreo and later. The official Android Auto website still lists the previous requirements, Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Google didn’t explain why the requirements were raised.
