Linus Sebastian, a tech blogger, has posted a new video to the LinusTechTips YouTube channel on the Intel Arc A770 graphic card and its performance in games. The video was also recorded by Tom Petersen, an Intel graphics engineer. The test system consisted of an Intel Core i9-12900KS processor and 32GB DDR5-4800 RAM.
Petersen explained Arc’s gaming-optimized graphics. The company separated all games into three different categories. The first category includes all the projects that are based on DirectX 12 graphics API. These will be most effective on Arc maps. This is Cyberpunk 2077 Control or Fortnite.
Games based on Vulkan and DirectX 12 APIs are the second category. These will work well but may not be as optimized.
Games based on DirectX 11 API are included in the third category. They also include nearly all of the popular Steam projects.
Although the frame counter was disabled, the video showed Cyberpunk 2077 being launched at 1440p resolution and high graphics settings. The game ran well overall, but there were some issues.
According to the company, they will “destroy all competition in terms of performance and price” in games in the first category. However, they are not as successful with cards of lower power.
