Automation technology has allowed many factories to use large numbers of machines to replace workers. Robots are more precise and less likely to make mistakes.

The latest news is that Samsung Electronics plans to build a fully-robotic smartphone factory by 2030, according to recent reports. Samsung Electronics formed a task force to create fully robotic factories in July.

Chinese manufacturers have already implemented similar technologies. Last year, Xiaomi’s “Black Light Factory”, which is fully robotized, was reported. Similar facilities are being built by Gree and other Chinese businesses.

In 2020, the first phase of Xiaomi’s Black Light Factory was operational. It is a fully automated production line that can produce millions of smartphones per year with no human intervention. This factory produced the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Edition smartphone and other products.

More important, the majority of the equipment found in the Black Light Factory are Xiaomi’s designs.
